Effect of Laser Acupuncture on Inflammatory Markers and Chest Expansion in Children with Parapneumonic Effusion

Background: Parapneumonic effusion and pleural empyema are the most common complications of community acquired pneumonia in children. Objective: To detect effect laser acupuncture as a non-invasive anti-inflammatory treatment procedure on controlling inflammatory markers improving chest expansion children complaining from parapneumonic following pneumonia. Patients methods: Thirty children with complication pneumonia, ranging age 6 to 12 years were selected El-Abbasia diseases hospital. They randomly assigned into two groups equal number (control study 15 patient each group) both treated by physical therapy program while patients group received an additional intervention that was conducted 3 times per week for 2 successive months. Chest measured before after suggested period. Results: The results showed statistically significant reduction C-reactive protein (CRP) increase mean values expansion, insignificant difference WBCs Neutrophilia recorded. Conclusion: Laser is effective modality treating where it added conventional physiotherapy alone
